Freyberg Community Pool

Very disappointing pool. Poor staff training and obvious lack of staff morale. They are very rude and culturally ignorant. I was told the pool closes at 7 pm. At 6.30 pm on 5th May 2022, the changing room for children is closed because the staff needs to finish early and go home. I was directed to use the adults changing room to change a child that is under 4. The adult changing room has no privacy, so I took my children home in their wet swimming wears. My son called his behaviour silly, of course, it was silly. The staff member is more interested in leaving work early than following the time set for their operations. On a different note, I was told children cannot swim in the empty space while the swimming lesson is ongoing. On different visits, I noticed that children were swimming in the same space that I was told children are not allowed to swim when lessons are in progress. It was clear to me that the unruled staff member is racially ignorant and have no sensible justification for his behaviour. Overall, I think the poor quality is a result of poor management who could not provide its employees with basic training, attract sensible job applicants, and support the service they promised to provide for 20 minutes of weekly training for $15. Is indeed appalling as one of the other reviewers here stated.

Awesome facilities for toddler+ and awesome opportunity to swim free with my little ones. I love the childrens pools or the smaller size, my daughter can touch the ground. Unlike the Lido where there toddler pool is too small and the bigger pool with the lazy river is a bit too deep, so Freyberg is our go to now! With the option of the in-between pool depths. Love it

Had the best experience with Kaiya! Absolutely helped my daughters conquer their worries about swimming. She made them feel safe and always encouraged them to take those risks while always being there ready to step in if needed. Would highly recommend her as an instructor and all the other instructors to help children learn to swim. Thanks Kaiya our daughters appreciate what you have done for them!

This is pool of choice for winter if wanting to do laps or aqua aerobics.The indoor pool is 25 m and I , to date have never had a lane issue. The staff are approachable and knowledgeable.There is a wheelchair ramp For the main pool .Also available are kick boards but I have not noticed any water dumbbells available to use. Would be handy to use after lane swimming and for those doing rehab. The main letdown for the pool is the changing rooms .Outdated-hairdryer would be good and cubicles are too small with no where to put clothes.A hang all on door would be good.

Absolutely horrific experience at this place. The swimming instructor Kaiya nearly drowned my 3 year old twice on his first swimming class! Upon confronting she advised she looks after 6 children at once. She could not handle 2 at a time 6 is way out of her reach. My son has been put off from that incident thanks to Kaiya. Very unprofessional and rude service, no parent should trust this instructor with their child. A complaint was emailed to the manager who was very apologetic but like all management, was not followed up at all. This person "Kaiya" working here does not know how to work with children. Just a warning to the local parents.
